PURPOSES/GOALS:

This course will advance the knowledge and clinical competency of medical technologists by:

• Examining transfusion practices in specific patient populations, including massive transfusion, cardiac surgery, neonates, chronic renal disease, hemolytic uremic syndrome, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, and various anemias.
• Reviewing transfusion practices in transplantation, cellular therapies, and therapeutic apheresis.
• Addressing hemostasis and disorders of primary and secondary hemostasis.
