Pilot Nurse Comments:

  • Extremely informative.
  • The course should be mandatory for all nurses in all states. It is an excellent resource.
  • Eye opening. Seems like an overwhelming problem. I can see that working short staffed could make the problem worse.
  • Very informative. It has stimulated me to seek additional training in this area.
  • Excellent course! Dismal statistics. Never realized the scale of human trafficking. Very sad. Good to see California, Texas, Florida, Ohio and Michigan moving forward to stop it. All states should be involved.
  • It was excellent, right to the point, very informative, a wealth of knowledge.
  • Text very well written. Thought-provoking, frightening.
  • The text was well written and contained a lot of information. The resources listed at the end of the chapters were very helpful and informative...I enjoyed the course and used several of the resources to find out more information on certain aspects of human trafficking. Book and quiz provided information that opened my eyes to how common and widespread human trafficking has become.

CCRNs: This course is eligible for new synergy model Category B.

Attention CCM's: As of March 11, 2021, this course will provide 2.25 contact hours towards your CCM certification and 3 hours towards your nursing license. “The subject of this continuing education course will take you into a topic, a language, and indeed a world, seemingly far removed from the practice settings in which many of us work. That presumption is wrong. The world of human trafficking, also known as modern-day slavery, reaches to our doorstep, whether that door is located in a gritty urban area of the Northeast or the rural Midwest. Human trafficking is not just a human rights issue and a criminal justice issue, it is a public health and nursing issue.”

So begins our new course on human trafficking. Designed to satisfy the 2-hour Florida Board of Nursing and the one-time Michigan Board of Nursing requirements, this course is important for everyone. After completing this course, you will be better prepared to recognize the signs of human trafficking, ask the right questions, and provide a potential trafficking victim with local and federal resources that will assist him or her to find safety.
